Title of the thesis : THEORETICAL STUDY OF THE BUCKLING OF CLAMPED SELF-SUPPORTED STRUCTURES
This project would be under the supervision of : Jérôme Colin, D1-PMM department of PPRIME Institute at Universite de Poitiers.
Co-supervisor(s) : Julien Durinck /
Starting date: 01/102022
Thesis presentation:
The main topic of this internship is concerned with the study from the theoretical and numerical point of view of the buckling of clamped and self-supporting thin films submitted to stresses and to an external pressure on its upper horizontal surface, when it is plastically folded at the ends. The first approach will consist in determining the buckled profiles, the critical stresses and pressures within the framework of the buckling theory of Föppl-von Karmàn. In a second step, the post-critical regime and the possibility of snap-through evolution from a upper to a lower position for the film will be studied using finite element simulations. These different works will be replaced whenever possible, in the experimental context of the development of micrometric-scale sensors for self-supporting structures and in the context of the development of bioelectronic stretchable devices for metallic films on metal films. substrates.
