ED SIMME Doctoral School proposes the following thesis subject:
Title of the thesis : Experimental characterisation of aeroacousticsand aerothermal two-phase flow.
This project would be under the supervision of : Yves Gervais, D2-FTC department of PPRIME Institute at Universite de Poitiers.
Co-supervisor(s) : gildas lalizel /
Starting date: 10/2022
Thesis presentation:
The noise emitted by the thrusters of a rocket during lift-off induces intense vibrations that can damage the payload. To attenuate the acoustic radiation emitted by the supersonic ejection of burnt gases, large quantities of water are injected onto the launch pad. To date, no alternative has been found to consider a safe take-off without these flood which impose strong constraints on the launch pad. New experimental measurements are now necessary to understand the influence of the liquid phase on the acoustic radiation of the supersonic jet. The objective of the project in partnership with CNES is to conduct reference experiments on two-phase flows to understand the aerodynamic and aerothermal phenomena leading to noise reduction by water injection.
